Monday, December 31, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) 0 comments Sunday, December 30, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Finally the stuff u have been waiting for.. Meta and Year end reflection.. Lets start with meta first...................... METAMORPHOSIS 2007 - real christian real world Was great.. Super great thats its a real pity for those who missed it.. Ok lets start with what went on.... What I will be kinda a reflection too eh.. haha.. Was held at faith methodist church from 26 - 28 dec.. DAY 1 Leader's track first.. Verse used in the morning sermon.. Philippians 1:27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel 1 Timothy 4:12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Speech - Speak what is beneficial - Say the right things at the right time Life - Forgot bout it =X Love - What we do needs to be motivated by God's love Faith - Trust God - Faith leads to faithfulness Purity - Live a life of holiness - Flee from temptation We will need one another in the team, everone will be learning from each other, see what we can do to reach out other then to pray, need to have a clear view of each roles... Accepted leadership is having a clear understanding to exercise authority and how decisions are made etc. Grow in relationship with other leaders in trust, respect, acceptance, conflict resolution, truth and love. The real challenge in ledaership is to walk with God..and its really a challenge.. Then lunch.. after that attended a workshop on how to set a compelling vision.. Gained a new insight to what a vision is like.. Realised that I had the wrong concept of what a vision is.. Then after the workshop was another sermon.. On faith...... Verse used: Mark 12:41-43 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on." Our life and ministry is a faith offering ot God, giving by faith is about giving, 1) Without Reservation 2) Without Expectation of Return 3) Without demand of results Results of not trusting God with small things, 1) We despise the small things 2) We hoard and we hide 3) We can sometimes despise other people's "two copper coins" Everything we withhold something, we do not get richer but instead, we only get poorer - and we show other people that too... And was after dinner the conference opening - another sermon.. Haha.. Verse used: Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. We have to run the race marked out for us 1) Run together - Running the race together sure is fun, so must support each other. 2) Run light - Run without anything which hinders our process - the sin that so easily entangles - especially the sin of doubt - must identify YOUR "excess baggage" 3) Run with the end in mind Run with the end in mind - with perserverance - fix our eyes on Jesus, author and perfector of our faith DAY 2 Welcome to the life of a real christian. Morning sermon, Verse used: Matthew 25:31-46 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Q1: Why am I here? Q2: Am I real? Q3: Is God real? If he is real, you need to be inspired. We have to do what is RIGHT and its tough. Real Inspired Give Heal Take it to the Lord in prayer. Impacted me about the topic on money, felt that I placed money over God at times. Yea.. So must use money to glorify God too cause he will provide on this de.. No need be bothered by it. Got money to give?? Go give then spread the good news.. Hear already must do. Am I gifted enough to give? Am I gifted enough to heal? Afternoon was Guys/Girls time. As the name suggests, this is where all the guys will have a talk about something useful for them, same goes for the girls. That was the first appearance of Dr Dave Park, our guest speaker. Hehehehehehe.. For the guys.. LOL.. True freedom is doing something what God called you to be. No. 1 Lie of Satan - You gotta do something to be saved by God. Always seek God, not his presence, not his voice etc. Luke 15:11-31 Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them. "Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.' So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. "The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate. "Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.' "The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!' " 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' " Man is made in the image of God, however they sin and all fall short for the glory of God. But only those who believe in him, those who confess by sins and accept Christ as their personal Saviour. They will have the better things - the robe of righteous If you think of who you are, then you are. We are called to be a son, a priest, a king as well as a prophet of God. With authority(right to rule) and power(ability to rule). Your mind is your own. So take every issue captive. Then the sermon at night Who you are is determined by your creator You are a child of God What you do does not determine who you are What Christ did determine who you are God initiated the love, you can only fellowship with him ONLY when you accept God. Look to God for your needs. So who you are? Remember, what you believe determines your behaviour, and how you behave determines what you will do. DAY 3 The last day of the conference, welcome to the real world. Morning sermon.. Verse used: Matthew 18:21-35 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. "The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. "But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. "His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' "But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened. "Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart." You cannot follow God if you cannot forgive. How can we speak of the good news when we have bad news and grudges in our hearts? So who should we forgive? Sometimes the devil will jus put thoughts in us, that God is unjust and stuff... If you don't forgive, you will live your life in bitterness. And when you live your life in bitterness, you end up surrendering your freedom. That's the devil's trick.. God did not ask you to forget, but to forgive. Forgiving is heart, but it sets you free.. Thinking back at that moment, I have many things which I did not forgive, friends, families, God, myself.... Many things was revealed, things which I have forgotten, and it truely did set me free.. So was really great. Amen.. Afternoon, attended a workshop - A Different Worldview Solid stuff, about the worldview in the present time and the biblical worldview.. But this workshop focused on athesim vs christian At first I thought I signed up for the wrong workshop, cause no one I knew was there and other workshop seem more interesting. But thankfully I didnt crash any other workshop. I stayed on and at the end realised this was what I really wanted. Evening sermon after dinner, topic was on faith. Verse used: Romans 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Luke 9:22-24 And he said, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life." Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. God has given us a measure of faith - the faith to trust Jesus. He will use you no matter what you are, if you think you are not ready, then you have already been deceived. Faith is taking the step of something unnatural. It is however based on the foundation of what is done for you which is seen by God - Faith in God =p It is not about your power and ability. It is about his. Greater is in he who is in you (1 john 4:4) The truth will set you free, you are a child of God. Deny yourself and take up your cross. Will you choose to live for his kingdom? It is easier to live then to die for his kingdom. There will be a time day when the time to save souls is over. The harvest is ripen already. Are you ready? Always be ready to give an answer to a question about the hope that lies in you. Hahaha... Thats about it for the 3 days of meta.. I will save the money and time spent is super worth it.. Understood what God meant already about coming and living my homework to him.. Took back great lessons.. Hehehehe.. God also spoke alot of things to me.. And yea... Felt really happy to know that God is watching over me.. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! Year end reflection!!!!!!!!! The past year was great.. Received great blessings for God, the end of my relationship with my ex opened many doors. I landed into NP and got to know great friends in crusade, Lets start with my class, my class rocks, as in super on, but got the positive and negative side la.. But God has placed a burden in my heart to reach out to them. He has also brought me through tough times like projects and classes and exams, really thankful that he has sustained me. Still could remember I had doubts if I could adapt to the new environment. Ahahaha... Then joined crusade. Was really great, I got to know God more. Main highlight to me in crusade was TUT as well as SLR camp. This was where I grew a step in my faith.. The friends I met in S&W, one of my IS course is priceless too.. LOL.. Hahaha.. There are also many wonderful things which is like alot to describe.. Heh.. Main highlights of the year 2007 1) Coming to NP 2) Joining Crusade 3) Breaking up 4) Common Test 5) First 2 wk holi which dont look lik holi 6) Exams 7) SLR 8) TUT 9) SMAD 10) LS christmas celebration 11) META 2007 Things Looking forward in 2008 1) Gen 12 2) Being a ST and a SM 3) Lead a DG group 4) More project X :) 5) META 2008 6) Naked I 7) Being an E-pal 8) Church TQ (fellowship) to grow together.. 9) More closer relationship with God 10) Next crusade camp Haha.. 0 comments Monday, December 24, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Went to visit my grandma in the hospital.. Hmm.. She is still kinda refusing to believe in Christ.. Saying want to be with her grandparents and all.. Well, was tellling my mother that if that's her choice in the end then there is nothing we can do also.. Yea.. We can only pray about it.. Yup.. Goin church candle light service later at 10.. Will end at bout 12.. Heh.. Tomorrow still got things.. Wow.. Will be quite busy.. Hahaha... No time for Homework.. Aha.. Dont care le.. Trust God =) 0 comments Sunday, December 23, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Just finish watchin surf's up.. Yea I kno, i m slow ok... LOL.. Not bad la.. Quite nice the movie.. Took back something quite important which God taught me.. Its not about winning, its about enjoying yourself.. Many times in doing something - even the things we love, we do until there comes a stage where we becomes 'skilled' in it and we like show off.. Where we want to win and show it off to people.. Like we want the praises and stuff.. Yea get what i mean.. Then in the end everything fails.. Because we forget the most important thing.. In the first place what did it want to do it first? Casue we enjoy what we are doing....and that is the most important thing that matters.. Winning is just a by-product.. First application will be at meta le.. Worship.. Haha.. Not gonna think about the praises and showing off kind.. Just gonna go on stage, enjoy myself and play it for God.. whooohoooo... Second application, stuides.. People always say we live in a competitive society and everything like test and exams, even though they say you must be the best you can be, they still want to aim the best and all.. And they make life like dunno what to achieve it.. I find no meaning in this.. Life is suppose to beautiful because God made it that way.. But what why then make life until so difficult...... My motto for life? Lol.. Be the best you can be... FOR GOD.. Results dont matter, as long as you do it for God, that's the best le.. Screw the results, screw the exams.. If God wants you to get that result, what is that to you? If God want to let other people succeed and let you fail in some areas, what is that to you.. As the bible says in Matthew 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness Yea.. God, I shall live this life for you and may it be pleasing to you.. Hallelujah!! For all you've done.. 0 comments Saturday, December 22, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) After that went to visit my grandma who is once again in the hospital.. This time, blood pressure.. Lol.. Really find it amusing.. Haha.. Cause like u know, second time goin inside le.. Well, maybe thats the price for old age.. Been thinking lately about God... Mediating and enjoying his presence.. Hmmmm... But feel lik he got something to tell me kind.. O well.. And i have not been thinkin bout work for quite some time le.. hehe.. 0 comments Friday, December 21, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) 0 comments Thursday, December 20, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Never again will I confess lack, for "My God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). Never again will I confess fear, for "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). Never again will I confess doubt and lack of faith, for "God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith" (Romans 12:3). Never again will I confess weakness, for "The Lord is the strength of my life" (Psalm 27:1). "The people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits" (Daniel 11:32). Never again will I confess supremacy of Satan over my life, for "Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Never again will I confess defeat, for "God always causeth me to triumph in Christ Jesus" (2 Corinthians 2:14). Never again will I confess lack of wisdom, for "Christ Jesus is made unto me wisdom from God" (1 Corinthians 1:30). Never again will I confess sickness, for "With His stripes I am healed" (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus "Himself took my infirmities and bare my sickness" (Matthew 8:17). Never again will I confess worries and frustrations, for I am "Casting all my cares upon Him, who careth for me" (1 Peter 5:7). In Christ I am "care-free." Never again will I confess bondage, for "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Corinthians 3:17). Never again will I confess condemnation, for "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). I am in Christ; therefore, I am free from condemnation. Never again will I confess loneliness, Jesus said, "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20). "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5). Never again will I confess curses or bad luck, for "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us...that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith" (Galatians 3:13-14). Never again will I confess discontent because "I have learned, in whatsoever state (circumstances) I am, therewith to be content" (Philippians 4:11). Never again will I confess unworthiness because "He hath made Him to be sin for us who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). The confession of our mouths will eventually bring forth the things we speak. 0 comments (all of my days i will sing your praises) And the young master had to sleep in a corner.. Awwwwwwwwwww.. Cause she was having nightmare and then she dreamt that an angel told her that she do not need to be afraid and told her to sleep well.. Then she dreamt about charlie and chocolate factory with big lollipops.. hahahaha... Well, God's presence is jus so real.. To know that he is always watching you.. And also felt at peace too to know that my sister is being watched despite her being the way she is.. LOL.. Gen 12 coming soon.. But before that, META!!! Haha.. Will have things to prepare.. Being the group leader and keyboardist.. Plus got homework.. Hahaha.. so many things to do.. K la.. Jus do lor.. God is my strength.. Yea.. =P God seem to be showing me where to go for Gen 12.. Community for youth and kids.. Hahaha.. Then Yr 2 join the prayer team.. Hmm.. This one still got alot of time to think and pray about it.. Yea.. But shall jot this down.... God will speak to me again if that is his will.. 0 comments Tuesday, December 18, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Went there at 1pm to prepare the skit. But ended up making dumplings.. Appearantly Sarah Mok named me 'shi fu' 0_o Cause she say i wrap one lik very nice and lik very easy.. LOL.. Jeanette dont get jealous.. ahahahaha.. Caroling was great.. Food was great too... Until Choomin want packet food home but paiseh to ask also.. ahahahaha... LOL.. Was meditating when on my way to Jeanette's house about what I read from my book on how being available to God can allow you to hear God's voice and what being available really means.. So was like whoa.. Being available does not mean devoting a part of your everyday for "quiet time" and then get off with life. It means allowing God to own their day - seeing God in their everyday lives and not be contented with simply having a quiet time and get the "God stuff" out of the way. Can also put it like muz have satisfaction and it comes from experiencing his everyday's presence and knowing what you do is pleasing to him. Being availabe also means being there for God when he wants to speak to you. Putting down the things you are doing and just spend time with him WHENEVER HE CALLS.. Lol.. Sometimes seems like he jus love to talk to us when we are at the most inconvenient times to test our availability. Also occasionally God will let things go on and then when you want to do it, he will jus change it.. For example, when I switch on the computer, after start up you will want to use, but then God will call you to spend time with him.. It will be a struggle, cause like you got things to do on your com then God calls you to spend time with him.. Thats a test to your availabilty.. Something which we fail to do so at times.. Hahaha... There are both passive and active aspects to availaility. There are times when we are to jus wait on the Lord. For example in Jeremiah 42:1-7 Then all the army officers, including Johanan son of Kareah and Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest approached Jeremiah the prophet and said to him, "Please hear our petition and pray to the LORD your God for this entire remnant. For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few are left. Pray that the LORD your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do." "I have heard you," replied Jeremiah the prophet. "I will certainly pray to the LORD your God as you have requested; I will tell you everything the LORD says and will keep nothing back from you." Then they said to Jeremiah, "May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with everything the LORD your God sends you to tell us. Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the LORD our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the LORD our God." Ten days later the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah. Waiting period : 10 days (for them - could me more for us too) Are we available? There are also times when those who are available to God actively seek him. For example in Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. To seek God. How long should one seek the lord? 30 mins? 1 hour? 2 hour? Each morning during QT? etc. Many people are content with this thought they experience no real presence of God.. Actually one should seek the Lord until he comes, jus like in Hosea 10:12 Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you. Yea.. Even now after I post tis post I want go watch chinese drama.. But God is once again asking me to spend time with him.. Lol.. A test.......................................on my availiabilty....................... 0 comments Monday, December 17, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) I jus realised something, the toxic can mean any bad things when in areas where you are fasting. For example, fasting on food helps clear toxic from body, fasting on computer games helps you remove toxic in your mind as well. For example, dota. =) I am sure every girl who have a bf or an ex will kno, they hate their bf to go play computer games especially dota. Cause they will have be thrown aside.. Hahahaha... (I done tat before) LOLs... sssSSSSSHHhhhhh Ahem.. Tats not my point. My point is tat for dotaing, we tend to get too serious with it and when we die.. hahaa.. You know guys, what will happen. It actually casues us to be easily angered and hence drawing you away from God.... =) 0 comments (all of my days i will sing your praises) And everyone who calls on Jesus, they will be saved!! =) Finall I realised why I could not sleep yesterday.. An unconfessed sin.. Haha.. I was suppose to be fasting.. =X I am gonna make an effort to spend more time with God.. And also learn not to be content with spending time with him and yet cannot feel his presence.. Contradicting huh.. That's what happens if you spend time with him and yet your heart is at another place.. Meta worship.. ahahahahahaha... 我可以!!
To my IS group, tmr muz come hor.. =) 0 comments Sunday, December 16, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Usually she will jus run off when she sees me. Am I scary? LOL. Lewis gave perhaps the best test for detecting pride. "The more we have it ourselves, the more we dislike it in others." With this test, you can detect pride in your life already. And I have detected it in a few areas of my life already. And its most probable that pride can never be detected, only revealed. He also says this "A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you." Indeed, if we keep looking down on things, how are we going to look forward to the things ahead of us and also look towards God? 0 comments (all of my days i will sing your praises) Still got quite alot of time to spare.. Read quite abit on my book on hearing the voice of God.. Learnt something which is quite contradicting to our human nature.. We need to be humble really.. Cause when God speaks to us, its something like an honour.. Then must listen to what he wants you to do (like must tell others not). If not, God will just stop speaking to us that way.. Well, you can take it like he takes that gift away? 0 comments (all of my days i will sing your praises) 0 comments Tuesday, December 4, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Then can give me your comments.. LOL. 0 comments (all of my days i will sing your praises) 0 comments Monday, December 3, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Here’s how you can break free from sexual addiction: * Come out of isolation. Ask God to give you the courage to admit your weaknesses and faults to others who can help you. Confess your struggles to God and pray for His help to overcome shame, pride, and the fear of rejection so you can open up with some other men. Remember that you’re not alone; many other Christians struggle with sexual addictions, and plenty of people will understand the issues you’re facing. Know that it’s impossible for you to overcome your challenges unless you have the support and encouragement of others. Expect that if you don’t expose your addiction, God will orchestrate circumstances that will eventually expose it anyway, since He loves you too much to let you continue to harm yourself and others. Start meeting with either an accountability partner or a support group every week Whenever temptations hit you, call your accountability partner or a member of your support group to talk and pray. If you’re married, don’t hide your struggles from your wife; realize that you need to be accountable to her. But don’t burden her with the responsibilities that should belong just to your support group or accountability partner, and make sure your wife has the support she needs to pursue healing herself from the ways your addiction has hurt her. * Make the necessary sacrifices. Be willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to keep lust from controlling you. Realize that it’s worth it to give up whatever you need to give up to build healthy relationships with God and your wife. If you have stored pornographic magazines, burn the whole stash. If you have CDs of porn, throw them out. If you’ve downloaded porn from the Internet, clean your hard drive by formatting it. Install porn blocking software, don’t use your computer unless your wife is home and awake, and give her your access passwords. If you’re seduced by images on TV, shut off your cable service and remove the antenna. If you’ve engaged in phone sex, block access to 900 numbers from your home. If any of your mail tempts you (such as a lingerie catalog your wife receives), call to get your address removed from the mailing lists. When you’re on a business trip, don’t turn on the TV in your hotel room and, every night, call a man who’s supporting you in your healing journey. If you still stumble, travel less or get another job that doesn’t involve travel. If you’ve been having an affair, cut off all contact with the person, delete all e-mail, burn letters, and throw away anything she has given you. If she lives nearby and the temptation is too much for you, move to another region. If you’ve been visiting adult bookstores or bars, avoid those areas when you’re driving. Be sure to cut off everything that makes you stumble, but don’t worry about areas that aren’t a problem for you. Cut off your temptations now; don’t procrastinate. * Don’t settle for just sobriety; go for purity. Understand that, while physical abstinence from your sexual addiction is a noble goal, it’s not enough, because you can still fall back into your addiction after a temporary break. Pursue purity, which give you the power you need to say “no” to every temptation or lustful thought. Know that, to be sexually pure, you need a new heart, and only God can give you that. Ask God to create a clean heart within you. Stop depending on your own limited abilities and decide to rely on God’s unlimited power working through you. Realize that you’ll find purity not through counseling, reading the Bible, or any other endeavor you can do, but through the simple yet profound act of trusting God moment-by-moment in your life. Accept the reality of your brokenness and let it cause you to depend more on God and less on yourself. * Turn and connect. Whenever you encounter a temptation, turn away from the thought and connect with God by focusing your mind on Him and praying for His help and power. Understand that, ultimately, lust is an attempt to fill emptiness inside you with another person. Acknowledge Jesus as the source of your life and turn to Him – instead of a broken person – for love and comfort. Rather than soaking your mind in sexual images, think about Jesus in all His glory. Ponder His awesome holiness, and as you do expect yourself to want to know Him more and spend more time thinking about Him than about sex. Make sure that no unresolved sin is blocking the process of you connecting to God; regularly confess and repent of your sins to Him, and keep short accounts with your spouse and other people. Don’t become complacent when you start to make progress fighting your addiction. Remember that it’s crucial for you to take every thought captive and stay closely connected to God every day. Read the Bible frequently to saturate your mind in God’s truths. Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your mind daily as you spend time praying. As often as possible, spend some time praying in solitude and silence to get away from distractions. Know that the closer you grow to God, the more natural it will become for you to turn to Him instead of sex to fulfill your needs and desires. * Move beyond yourself to others. Realize that God designed sex as a way of connecting to another person, and that He intends it to always be used to strengthen a relationship with a spouse. Focus your sexual desires outward toward your wife instead of inward toward yourself as happens with masturbation. Understand that, contrary to the popular belief that masturbation doesn’t hurt anyone, it actually harms you tremendously by making you selfish and leading you to expect instant gratification in other situations. Know that masturbation also harms you marriage because it robs you and your wife of the intimacy God wants you both to enjoy together. Don’t let your sexual urges rule over you; ask God to give you the power to master them. Use healthier means of releasing physical tension, such as vigorous exercise at least several times a week. * Confront other sins your sexual addiction has been fueling. Recognize that, when you’re caught in sexual addiction, it soaks your heart in evil that leads to sins of other kinds, such as lying, stealing, cheating, and compromise both at home and at work. Pray for the courage you need to be completely honest about sins in all aspects of your life. Confess your sins to God and also your accountability partner or people in your support group, dealing with each one specifically. Repent and do what it takes to be reconciled to those you’ve hurt. For example, if you’ve lied to your wife about other issues besides your sexual behaviors, do more than just apologize. Work to rebuild trust in your marriage. If you’ve stolen from your employer, repay the company the full amount. If you’ve neglected your kids, give them significant amounts of your time and energy from now on and fully express your love to them. * Descend into the valley of your heart. Know that, in order to truly have “mountaintop” experiences of joy and peace, you must first go down into the valley of your heart to confront the sins, lies, wounds, and distorted perceptions that lurk there. Confess all of it, one part at a time, repent, and accept the forgiveness and grace God offers you. Remember that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Ask God to give you the faith you need to believe that He loves you deeply, and to embrace His love and receive it into your heart. * Heal from sexual abuse. If you’ve been sexually abused, seek God’s help to go through the forgiveness process so you can get the poison of bitterness out of your heart. Acknowledge the reality of what you went through, and process your thoughts and feelings about it in safe relationships with the people who are supporting you as you break free of addiction, plus a professional counselor or pastor if you’d like. Express your sorrow and pain fully; don’t be afraid to cry or yell or journal your feelings. Realize that God can transform even the worst suffering into something good. Ask God what you can learn from your suffering that will help you grow as a person and equip you to minister to others. Remember how deeply Jesus suffered while He was on Earth, and know that He identifies with you in your pain. Understand that Jesus loves you regardless of your past; ask Him to help you overcome shame. Choose to forgive the person who abused you. Don’t wait until you feel like it, because you likely never will; realize that you need to decide to do so and rely on the help God will provide. Write a letter of forgiveness and either read it aloud to the people who are supporting you in the healing process, or mail it to the person who abused you. * Heal from father wounds. If your dad was either physically or emotionally absent or neglectful during your childhood, pursue healing for the wounds that left on your heart. Pray for God to guide in the healing process. Face the truth about what happened and how it has affected you. Cultivate authentic friendships with other men who will accept and love you in spite of your faults. Allow yourself to grieve what you lost because of your flawed relationship with your father. Write your thoughts and feelings in a journal. Talk with your accountability partner or support group about what happened and ask them to pray for you in specific ways. Write a letter to your dad explaining how you were wounded, expressing your forgiveness, and blessing him. Pray about potentially mailing the letter to your dad if he is still alive. * Accept God’s love. Recognize that God’s love for you is completely unconditional. Stop the futile effort of trying to earn it and embrace the fact that you are already worthy of it because God says you are. Understand that it’s impossible to sin too much for God to love you. Stop trying to pass a test and simply accept the gift of His deep love for you, no matter what. * Accept God’s grace. Welcome God’s grace to help you move from brokenness to wholeness. Realize that God gives His very best, and that His grace outshines even your worst sin. Know that God’s love cannot be earned or deserved, and that your sin doesn’t stop God from loving you. Understand that God’s grace doesn’t nullify His holiness or remove the consequences of sin, but He patiently meets you where you are, even if you’re trapped deep in sin. Trust that God will gently restore the broken pieces of your life, and shower His love on you. Expect God to continue to seek you. Choose to see God as He truly is – a kind and loving God who is willing to give you undeserved favor if you turn to Him. Know that you can approach God, no matter what you’ve done or how ashamed you feel. Make pursuing God your top priority in life. Do whatever it takes so that nothing else distracts you from developing a closer relationship with Him. Celebrate the fact that God has given you a gift much more powerful than anything sex can offer you. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.' In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Thank You Jesus!!! My aunt accepted Christ. Finally, after years of watering the plants. The seeds sown by my mother has finally sprouted and is being reaped. John 4: 36-38 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor. However, still got my uncle and grandma.. Well, take things slowly lor.. Its quite amazing.. Something happened, an I was reminded of what was said during church service, "The time when somebody accepts Christ, it is the point where that person realises he/she needs a God. When that time comes, who will be there for that person?" Then God spoke to me. He said "It is time" Haha.. So the time has finally arrived for the crops to be ready for harvest.. Weee... 0 comments Sunday, December 2, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Sermon was great.. Was on Genesis 4:17-25 Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch. To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech. Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah. Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock. His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play the harp and flute. Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah. Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words. I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me. If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times." Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." Lets say this, "Grace and blessings comes from the family" "Marriage is holy" "Situation can affect your child which in turn affect the society" A family is started from marriage. And if the marriage is not blessed by God, then it will not last. The bible also said that in a marriage, its a man and a woman coming together. Lets look at Cain first, He sinned and thus it affected his whole family until Lamech. And sin will multiply in the family. Firstly, Lamech took 2 wives. Secondly, we can see that Lamech is full of violence and arrogance. Look at the way he spoke to his wife in verse 23,24: Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words. I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me. If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times." Look at the way he speak to his wifes.. "hear my wors. I..." From here can see his arrogance le.. Then when he said "If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times." From here can see he is full of violence. And btw, the seven times thing Cain will be avenged,it was God who said that. But for Lamech, he said it himself. Therefore can see how heavy his sin is. How worse is he compared to Cain. This is so contradicting to what was said in matthew 18:21,22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. So we saw in the era of Cain and it applies now readers. Cities are built, Technologies became more advance. However, moral values went down. Just like in the present times. What is the most dangerous creature in the world? Not beast. But man. The world is corrupted by sin already. And the devil is lurking for someone to destroy. (1 peter 5:8 - Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.) However there is hope for man as in the past. Just now I said that "Situation can affect your child which in turn affect the society" It was a bad impact for cain. But for Seth (not me hullo -.-), it was different. See verse 26 where Seth had a son: Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD. Hence there was positive influence there. And as for Seth's desendant? It went on until Noah - the one who built the ark who in turn saved humanity from extinction. Yea. So a family is the most important thing of all. It will affect the moral values of society. Look at the present times, how low all moral values are. The main reason is because of family. Yea. So, we need to spend quality time with our family and show love and concern to them yea. Grace and blessings start from the family after all (Abit extra.... Thats why Jesus came from a family too.. LOL). 0 comments Saturday, December 1, 2007 (all of my days i will sing your praises) Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." God said this not because he has high expectations for us. But because he loves us and want to hav the fellowship with us. Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. Hence we should not think of what God wants us to obey to be something to oppress us. Many of times, people and even we Christians will have this type of thought. Like what are all this laws for? We fail to see that all this are actually something God is doing to prevent us from falling into sin. 0 comments (all of my days i will sing your praises) 0 comments |
